Shopian, Nov 20: A young girl was killed on Thursday afternoon after being struck and crushed by a tipper truck near SBGM College in Arhama area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

As per reports, the victim has been identified as Rozy Jan, a resident of Chitragam Kalan, Shopian.

According to reports, the accident occurred when the speeding tipper bearing registration number JK13E-3014 ran over the girl. However, it was not immediately known whether she was walking along the roadside or trying to cross the road.

Local residents rushed to the spot and retrieved the victim, but she had already succumbed to her injuries.

The body was later shifted to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities.

The tipper truck has been seized by the police after reaching the scene.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered and further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances of the fatal accident.
