Budgam, Nov 11: People’s Democratic Party candidate Aga Muntazir Mehdi on Tuesday said people are coming out in large numbers to vote against the “injustice” done by the National Conference over the years.

Speaking with reporters, Mehdi said that election won by the National Conference earlier was “sentiment-driven,” but this time, the vote is a “protest against unfulfilled promises.”

“People believe that today’s election will deliver justice for the wrongs done to them. The promises made earlier were never fulfilled on the ground, and that has pushed voters to express their anger through ballot,” Mehdi said.

Referring to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s recent visit to Budgam for campaigning, Mehdi remarked that such visits “make no difference.”

“At this point, people have decided not to be treated as spare wheels or second options. Those who abandoned locals at the 11th hour cannot regain trust by merely showing up now,” he said.
