Srinagar: The government is expected to clear air on prevailing sense of unease and panic in Kashmir as its spokesperson is addressing a presser at 1600 hours in Jammu.
“Principal Secretary, Planning, Development & Monitoring, Rohit Kansal, who has been designated Official Spokesperson by the State Government, is scheduled to address a Press Conference …at Jammu at 4.00 pm today,” government said.
The presser comes at a time when 100 more companies of paramilitary forces landed in Kashmir and authorities carried out a sweeping crackdown on the Jamaat-e-Islami leadership, arresting over 150 leaders and activists of the organisation. Apart from it, the government cancelled leave to doctors and also asked hospitals to stock medicines. It ordered the rationing of fuel besides asked residents to keep enough stocks of ration and other essentials.
The slew of orders triggered panic in the Kashmir Valley as people rushed to stores and petrol pumps to hoard food grains, fuel and medicine on Saturday.
