Srinagar, Sep 11: The Union Railway minister on Thursday said that the Railways will introduce a daily based parcel train service from Kashmir Valley to Delhi, carrying apples. The service will start from September 13.
In a post on X, Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said two parcel vans carrying apples from Budgam to Delhi ran today.
In a much needed relief to Kashmir fruit growers, the minister said the service will now be introduced on a daily basis from Saturday.
“With the Jammu-Srinagar line operational, the Kashmir valley has better connectivity. Railways is introducing a daily time-tabled parcel train from Badgam in Kashmir Valley to Adarsh Nagar station in Delhi starting 13th September 2025,” he posted on X.
He added that loading of 2 parcel vans carrying apples from Budgam to Delhi began today.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed gratitude to PM Modi and the Railways minister, stating the service will bring huge relief to apple growers.
“The daily parcel-train from Budgam to New Delhi will bring huge relief to apple growers. My deepest gratitude to PM Narendra Modi Ji and Union Minister for Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw,” he said in a post on X.
Pertinently, to strengthen horticultural logistics in Kashmir, two coaches (parcel van) loaded with apples departed from Budgam station today—one attached to a Delhi-bound train and the other to a Jammu-bound train.
