According to officials, the accident took place when a Swift car bearing registration number JK21K-9427, traveling from Jammu towards Udhampur, lost control and overturned near a roadside eatery.

The impact of the crash proved fatal for two occupants of the vehicle. The deceased were identified as 40-year-old Sunil Verma, son of Faquir Chand, and Ashik Kumar, both residents of Ranbir Singh Pura. Another occupant, Sham Singh Rajput, aged 35 and also a resident of RS Pura, sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Preliminary reports suggest that overspeeding may have been the cause of the accident, though authorities have yet to confirm the exact reason pending further investigation.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and launched an inquiry to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the accident. (KNT)
