Shab-e-Qadr, the night of Power, is believed to be the most sacred night of Ramadan—a night when the heavens open, sins are forgiven, and prayers are answered. It is being observed all across the globe tonight, including in the Kashmir Valley.

Srinagar’s historic Hazratbal Shrine witnessed the largest gathering of worshippers, with thousands expected to spend the night in deep devotion.

However, the authorities disallowed prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid in the heart of Srinagar.

Meanwhile, other mosques and shrines across the valley resonated with spiritual recitations, as believers immerse themselves in prayers, Tilawat-e-Quran and supplications for mercy and peace tonight.

Mohammad Yousuf, a resident of Khanyar, Srinagar, said the valley’s mosques and shrines glow with lights, but the real illumination comes from the faith of worshippers who spent the night seeking divine mercy.

“This night is a chance to ask for everything they have ever wished for. Peace, forgiveness and a better tomorrow are among the blessings we seek,” he added.

It is believed that the night is not just about prayers—it is a moment of deep self-reflection. People raised their hands, asking for relief from hardships and for an end to the worries that weigh them down.

Meanwhile, authorities ensured that major places of worship are ready to accommodate lakhs of worshippers. Security arrangements have also been tightened, and sanitation teams have been deployed to maintain cleanliness.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has extended his greetings to the people on the eve of Shab-e-Qadr and Jumat-ul-Vida.

In a message, the Lieutenant Governor said, “On the auspicious occasions of Shab-e-Qadr and Jumat-ul-Vida, I convey my hearty greetings and felicitations to all and wish them health, happiness and prosperity. May the Almighty accept all our prayers and continue to guide us on the path of compassion, love and harmony”.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has extended his greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasions of Shab-i-Qadr and Jumat-ul-Vida.

In his message, the Chief Minister highlighted the spiritual significance of Shab-i-Qadr, the blessed night when the Holy Quran was revealed, and Jumat-ul-Vida, the last Friday of Ramadan, which holds great importance for the Muslim community.

He urged the people to use these sacred moments for prayers, self-reflection and seeking divine blessings for peace, prosperity and brotherhood.

“May these blessed occasions bring harmony, prosperity and well-being to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Let us pray for peace, unity and the progress of our society and strengthen the bonds of compassion and togetherness,” CM Abdullah said.

The Chief Minister also called upon the people to remember the underprivileged and extend help to those in need, emphasizing the values of kindness and generosity that define the spirit of Ramadan.
He expressed hope that the prayers and the blessings of these holy occasions would inspire everyone to work towards a more just, inclusive, and peaceful society.
