Budgam: A tabular electric pole of 11 KV erected at Khanda village of central Kashmir’s Budgam district is on the verge of fall. Eve as the Power Development Department (PDD) had promised to repair the pole, the authorities are yet to attend to the grave problem causing dangers to the lives of the people in the vicinity.

This was stated by the villagers while expressing their anger against the ‘negligent’ attitude of the PDD authorities.

The tabular pole, which acts as a base for the  power supply line from receiving station Khanda  to supply electricity to the adjacent villages of Wagoora and Suthsoo Kalan, has not been repaired despite the concerned Assistant executive engineer Chadoora, Irshad Ahmed, promising to repair  it on priority basis, the locals told INS.

The damaged pole surrounded with tall popular trees ,erected within the  residential houses, lying on the bank of a river stream has become a concern for the inhabitants of the area .The people are living under constant fear and the threat looms large to their lives and the property.

The locals have time and again urged upon the concerned authorities to fix the damaged electric pole before any untoward incident takes place in the area.

“The electric pole seems to topple down any time. The PDD authorities must repair the damaged pole on priority basis. Otherwise, in case of any untoward incident, the PDD authorities would be solely responsible for it,” said the aggrieved inhabitants while talking to the INS.

Pertinently, the INS had also carried a story, “Dangling electric pole poses threat to lives in Budgam”. However, till date no such step has been taken by the concerned authorities to erect the pole or replace it, despite the assurance given by AEE when the matter was brought in his notice by the  INS correspondent.

Meanwhile,INS  contacted Nasrullah Jan, executive engineer PDD Budgam and said, “The issue will be addressed in a couple of days without any further delay.”
