Srinagar, Mar 22: The Central Bureau of Investigation arrested an accused forest guard in the Bilawar area of Kathua district for demanding and accepting bribe Rs 35,000 bribe from a complainant.

In a statement, a spokesperson said that a case was registered by CBI on 20.03.2025 against the accused on allegations that he demanded Rs 35000 bribe from a complainant for allowing him to execute construction and repair of road and release of a JCB forcibly taken by the accused.

The statement reads that the CBI laid a trap and caught the accused forest guard red-handed while demanding and accepting Rs 35,000 from the complainant.

“The accused was arrested and produced before the court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption (CBI Cases), Jammu on 21.03.2025. He was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days,” it reads.

It added thaT the CBI also conducted search at the residence of the accused in Bilawar area of Kathua which led to recovery of some incriminating documents, while investigation is going on.
