No plans to install water meters in Kashmir: CE JSD

Srinagar, Feb 01: Amid confusion and chaos over the installation of water meters, Chief Engineer Jal Shakti Kashmir confirmed that there are no plans to install meters.

The statement comes after rumors surfaced regarding the installation of water meters in commercial establishments first.

Chief Engineer Jal Shakti Kashmir, Bharam Jyoti Sharma, told news agency JKNS, “We have no plans to install smart meters in Kashmir, and no directions have been issued.”

When asked about rumors of meter installation in commercial establishments, he added, “Whenever we get directions, meters will be installed in commercial establishments first, but there are no plans as of now.”

Earlier, National Conference Chief spokesperson also clarified that, there are no plans of installing water meters, further saying no water fee will be charges, Tanvir Sadiq said.
