Srinagar, Jan 31: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a fresh spell of rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir as two new Western Disturbances are set to become active on February 1 and February 3.

These weather systems are expected to impact the region until February 5, particularly affecting the hilly areas with fresh snowfall.

Western Disturbances play a crucial role in determining winter precipitation in the region. The upcoming disturbances could bring much-needed snowfall to higher altitudes, replenishing glaciers and water sources, which are essential for Kashmir’s agriculture and hydropower sectors.

Authorities have advised travelers and residents, especially in mountainous areas, to stay alert for potential disruptions due to snow accumulation and slippery road conditions. With Kashmir transitioning from Chillai Kalan to Chillai Khurd, this fresh spell of wet weather is expected to influence temperature patterns across the Valley in the coming days.
