Seized drugs destroyed in Anantnag

Srinagar, Dec 27: Authorities in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district destroyed a huge quantity of seized drugs and psychotropic substances, officials said on Wednesday.

They told GNS that in compliance with the order of the Hon’ble Session Court, the Anantnag committee comprising Police officers from District Anantnag and Crime Branch (ANTF Kashmir) revenue officers and a Judicial officer destroyed a huge quantity of seized drugs and psychotropic substances under section 52A of NDPS Act on 26.12.2023 (Tuesday).

“The seized contraband substances of 65 cases of Police Stations of District Anantnag, ANTF Kashmir, Qazigund and Qaimoh Kulgam were destroyed,” the officials said.

The seized substances, as per the officials, included 1.605 kgs of Charas, 925.660 kgs of Poppy Straw, 1659 bottles of Codeine, 40 grams of Heroin, 770 grams of Ghanja, Fukki 29.610 kgs, Capsules + Tablets 248, Bhung Bhosa 164.810 kgs + 03 Parcels, Charas Power 21.499 kgs were destroyed at Kashmir Health Care System, IGC Lassipora in presence of constituted committee headed by Chief Judicial Magistrate Anantnag, SP (OPS) Anantnag, Dy. SP ANTF Kashmir, Executive Magistrate Anantnag and other Police officers of the District.
