Srinagar: Complete shutdown is being observed in Aripanthan town of Central Kashmir’s budgam district on Thursday in remembrance of the civilians killed at the hands of government forces on this day in 2016.

All shops, business establishments and school are closed in the town. Vehicular movement, however thin, is plying on roads, locals said.

Four civilians, Mohammed Ashraf Wani, Manzoor Ahmad Lone, Javaid Ahmad Sheikh and Javaid Ahmad Najar were killed after forces opened fire on protesters on August 16, 2016. Dozens were injured in the action.
