Srinagar, July 30: While rain in spells continued, the weatherman on Saturday forecast more showers and thunder over Jammu and Kashmir in next 24 hours even as minimum temperatures recorded a drop with Gulmarg witnessing below 3°C.

“There is possibility of scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rain and thunder over Jammu and Kashmir in next 24 hours,” a meteorological department said, adding, “There is possibility of isolated to scattered light rain and thunder for subsequent two days.”

Regarding rainfall in the last 24 hours till 0830 a.m., the weatherman said   Bhaderwah received 37.4mm followed by 12.7mm in Gulmarg, Qazigund 12.6mm, Pahalgam 10.3mm while other places less than 10mm of rain.

The minimum temperatures also recorded a drop at most places in Kashmir Valley and Jammu division.

Srinagar, the MeT official said, recorded a low of 19.1°C against 20.6°C on the previous night. The temperature was 0.2°C above normal during this time of the year for the summer capital, the official said.

Qazigund recorded a low of 17.8°C against 18.7°C on the previous night. The temperature was 0.6°C above normal there, he said.

In Pahalgam, the mercury settled at 14.4°C against 15.6°C on the previous night and it was 0.8°C above normal for the south Kashmir resort.

Kokernag recorded a low of 16.8°C against 17.3°C last night and it was 0.1°C above normal for the place, he said.

World famous Gulmarg resort, the MeT official said, recorded a low of 9.5°C against 11.8°C and it was 3.0°C ‘below’ normal for the north Kashmir place.

Kupwara town saw a low of 17.6°C against 17.2°C on previous night and it was 0.2°C above normal for the place during this time of the season, the official said.

Jammu recorded a low of 25.1°C against 25.2°C on the previous night. However, it was 0.3°C above normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said.

Banihal recorded a low of 18.8°C, Batote 18.7°C, Katra 22.8°C and Bhadarwah 19.1°C, the official said.
