Srinagar, July 19: Ministry Of Home Affairs, Government of India, on Tuesday said that there was no information available regarding district-wise information on employment rate in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a written reply to a question by Congress’s parliamentarian Benny Behanan, Minister of State MHA Nityanand Rai said that district-wise information on employment rate in Jammu and Kashmir is not available.

Besides data on employment, the Congress parliamentarian had sought the details of new jobs created directly or indirectly in the public and private sectors since August 2019 as well as the details of progress made towards the Government’s target of creating 25000 jobs by 2022; and whether the Government is on track to meet the target and if not, the reasons therefor including the revised timeline.

“The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has carried out recruitment in the public sector from the year 2019 onwards totaling 29,806,” Rai said in the reply, adding, “In addition, employment for 5.2 lakh persons is estimated to have been created through self-employment schemes from August 2019 upto June 2022.”
