Srinagar, Jul 17: Amid forecast isolated to scattered very light rain in next 24 hours, the minimum temperature recorded a drop at most places and settled below normal in Jammu and Kashmir except Katra on Sunday.

A meteorological department official here said that during last 24 hours till 0830 hours today, 4.0 mm of rainfall was recorded in Srinagar, 1.2 mm in Qazigund, 6.6 mm in Pahalgam, 3.0 mm in Kupwara, 0.6 mm in Kokernag, 3.8 mm in Gulmarg, 1.1 mm in Jammu, 0.4 mm in Banihal and 3.4 mm in Bhaderwah.

“There is possibility of isolated to scattered light rain/TS over J&K during next 24 hours,” the official said.

Meanwhile, Srinagar recorded a low of 18.0°C against 18.1°C on the previous night. The temperature was 0.4°C ‘below’ normal during this time of the year for the summer capital, the MeT official said.

Qazigund recorded a low of 16.6°C against 17.1°C on the previous night. The temperature was 0.1°C below normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.

In Pahalgam, the mercury settled at 12.4°C against 13.8°C on the previous night and it was 0.1°C below normal for the south Kashmir resort.

Kokernag recorded a low of 15.2°C against 15.5°C last night and it was 0.8°C below normal for the place, he said.

World famous Gulmarg resort recorded a low of 10.0°C against 9.5°C and it was 2.1°C below normal for the place. Kupwara town saw a low of 16.3°C against 15.5°C on previous night and it was 0.7°C ‘below’ normal for the place during this time of the season, the official said.

Jammu recorded a low of 24.9°C against 24.4°C on the previous night. It was 0.1°C below normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said. Banihal recorded a low of 16.8°C, Batote 18.1°C, Katra 23.7°C while Bhadarwah had a minimum of 17.9°C, the official said.
