Sarmad felicitates Dogri artists; Advocates giving platform to school, college youth

JAMMU, APRIL 05: Secretary, Tourism and Culture, Sarmad Hafeez, today advocated giving a perfect platform to artists from schools and colleges enabling them exploit their talent to the fullest.

Secretary was speaking during a function organized by Bhartiya Kala Sangam, Jammu in association with Academy of Art, Culture & Languages (JKAACL) here at KL Saigal Hall, Abhinav Theatre.

Sarmad admits that due to onslaught of high-speed internet the culture and art has been exposed to several challenges and we need to work collectively towards facing the same. He said that our culture is the synthesis of Vedic Hinduism and Sufism and the artists can be instrumental in propagation and promotion of this legacy for the posterity. He said that the culture is boundless and is the identity of people affiliated to it adding LG administration is keen to promote the local art and culture in the UT.

Sarmad maintained that the Tourism department is all set to promote local art, culture, language and cuisines through holding of several events in this regard.

Later, Secretary felicitated the artists from Dogri culture and art besides others including journalists, employees and professionals who have contributed towards different aspects of J&K culture and folk.
