Srinagar, Mar 7: The death toll in a grenade blast at Amira Kadal here reached to two as a young woman lost battle for life at hospital here on Monday, officials said.

Medical Superintendent SMHS hospital here Dr Kawaljeet Singh said that the 19-year-old woman, Rafiya daughter of Nazir Ahmad Tinda of Dargah near NIT, succumbed to her injuries. She had suffered multiple injuries in the blast which took place at 4:20 hours on the busy street on Sunday. An elderly person Muhammad Aslam Makhdoomi (70) from Makhdoom Sahib area of Nowhatta Srinagar had died near the spot while 28 persons including a policeman were injured in the blast on the busy Amira Kadal bridge. The explosion took place while the area was abuzz with a huge rush of shoppers who had thronged the week flea Sunday market. Police on Sunday evening detained several persons for questioning in connection with the blast, a senior police officer said.
