Srinagar, Oct 6: Director General of Police Dilbag Singh on Thursday said that those behind spate of civilian killings would be soon “exposed” and termed the attacks as attempt to damage communal harmony and brotherhood in Kashmir Valley.

“Militants are targeting innocent people who are engaged in social services and have nothing to do with anyone. There is attempt to create atmosphere of fear and attempt is made to give communal colour to such killings so that the communal brotherhood in Kashmir is damaged,” the top police officer of the Jammu and Kashmir told reporters here ain the backdrop of killing of two civilians, one of them a woman who was principal of a school at sangam Eidah falling within the jurisdiction of police station Safa Kadal.

“We regret such killings. We are working on the cases which happened earlier. Srinagar police have got many clues and very soon we will expose these people who are targeting humanity, targeting local ethos and brotherhood among people,” he said as per.

“This is a definitely a conspiracy to target communal harmony and brotherhood. This is a conspiracy to defame a local Muslim Kashmiri. This is a conspiracy to target those who come from outside for livelihood. This is a conspiracy to target communal harmony,” he said responding to a question, adding, “(Militants are militants) and working at the behest of Pakistani handlers. This is an attempt to prevent steps afoot towards peace and I am hopeful that people of Kashmir along with us will expose this conspiracy.”

Asked if school staff revealed anything about those carried out the attack, the DGP said, “The staff is in fear. Their colleagues have been targeted. Rest police is working on it and very soon we will expose them.”
