Srinagar, Aug 7: A militant, who had “escaped” amid gunfight at Mochwa in Budgam district has been arrested from Khrew area in outskirts of Srinagar, police said.

Police in a tweet said the “second militant who escaped from encounter site, after following a lead, has been arrested in Khrew.”

“A pistol and a grenade has been recovered from his possession. Truck driver also arrested,” IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said in the tweet. Sources said that the arrested militant is from Khrew area.

Earlier, one militant was killed in the gunfight in Mochwa area in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district early on Saturday.

The gunfight, as per police, had ensued after joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in the area.
