Jammu, July 28: Bodies of five persons have been recovered while 12 persons have been rescued in injured condition so far in flash floods triggered by cloud burst in Hanzor area of Dachhan in Kishtwar district, officials said on Wednesday. Around 25 to 26 persons are still missing and efforts are afoot with find them, they said.

“During the intervening night an incident of cloudburst took place in Hunzar area of Dachhan, in which 06 houses and 01 Ration depot was damaged,” SSP Kishtwar Shafqat Bhat said.

“About 25-26 local persons are missing. So far five dead bodies have been recovered and 12 injured persons were rescued till now,” he said, adding, “Rescue operation by Kishtwar police and local people of the area lead by SHO Dachhan is underway. More details are awaited even as rescue operation is going on.”

Officials said SDRF teams are augmented from Doda and Udhampur. Also, another SDRF team is being airlifted by Air Force helicopter from Jammu even as one team of NDRF and SDRF has been kept on standby for airlifting from Srinagar.

“One NDRF team is on way from Jammu towards Kishtwar,” they said.
