Jammu, Jan 11: Jammu-Srinagar Highway, the only surface link connecting Kashmir Valley with the rest of world, remained closed on Monday and shall continue to be shut for “at least” five more days, officials said. The thoroughfare was closed due to the sudden collapsing of the retaining wall of an important bridge at Kela Morh, Ramban with no optional immediate carriageway available. “Jammu-Srinagar highway is closed due to sudden damage of bridge at Kela Morh, Ramban. It will take at least 05 days to repair the damaged bridge as stated by NHAI,” DSP traffic Ramban Parul Bharadwaja said. Meanwhile, the officials said that that Jammu-Doda-Kishtwar, Jammu-Ramban, Magerkot- Banihal, and Banihal-Qazigund stretches are through for traffic. “People are requested to take their journey accordingly.” Sources said that hundreds of vehicles are stranded around the damaged spot.
