The terror associate, who was arrested in Reasi, has been identified as Hakam Din, son of Makhan Din, a resident of Bandhrahi, Rajouri.

Addressing a press conference here, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi, Mohita Sharma, as per KNO, said that Hakam Din acted as a guide, took the terrorists to the spot through forests and managed to take them back through similar route.

She said a total of three Pakistani terrorists were part of this attack but police had no prior information about this. “A general alert was there due to swearing in ceremony of the new government and also due to India versus Pakistan cricket match but no specific input was there,” she said.

SSP said, “The terror attack case was registered under section 302 and 307 of IPC, 727 of Arma Act and 16, 18 and 20 of UAPA. Even before the day of the attack, terrorists had stayed at his (Hakim’s) home in Badhrahi and werw provided with food and shelter.”

For the last 10 days, Reasi police arrested around 150 people related to this case whenever they got any information including technical evidence, Sharma said, adding that police have recovered a cash of Rs 6,000 from Hakam Din’s possession which the terrorists had provided them and no arms or ammunition was recovered.

Replying to a question, Sharma said the case is still under investigation but all the three terrorists had stayed at Hakam Din’s house three times.

“No road opening party has ever been deployed in this area and it was an unfortunate attack on pilgrims,” SSP Mohita said. “But after the attack, security has been improved and people are advised to take the pilgrimage like they were doing before.”
