Disproportionate Asset Case: ACB file charge sheet against JE

Srinagar, Oct 19: The Anti Corruption Bureau on Monday filed a charge sheet against a junior engineer PHE in a disproportionate asset case registered against him.
The case FIR (No. 31/2012) of police station VOK (now ACB Srinagar) was filed against the JE Bashir Bhat, PHE Division Shopian in 2012.
The charge sheet was produced before the Court of Special Judge Anticorruption Srinagar under section 5(1) (e) r/w 5(2) J&K Prevention of Corruption Act Samvat 2006 against Bhat, a resident of Noorpora Tral at present Post Office Land Hyderpora Srinagar.
“The instant case was registered in Police Station Vigilance Organization Kashmir on the outcome of a secret enquiry against accused him for indulging in corrupt and illegal practices and amassing wealth disproportionate to his known source of income,” the ACB said. “The enquiry revealed that the accused had constructed a palatial house at Post Office Lane Hyderpora, House at Sidhra Jammu and few houses at Noorpora Tral at approximately cost of Rs. 1.50 Crores.” The suspect has also purchased Horticulture and Agriculture land and is in possession of movable assets including one I-10 Hyundai car and one Maruti 800 Car.”
The assets found in possession during secret enquiry were apparently found disproportionate to the known sources of the income of the Junior Engineer, ACB said as per a statement issued here.
“The facts thus disclosed during secret enquiry constitute offences punishable U/S 5(1)(e) r/w 5(2) J&K P.C. Act,Svt. 2006 and accordingly a case FIR No.31/2012 under aforementioned sections of law was registered in P/S VOK (now ACB-Srinagar) and investigation was accordingly taken up.”
The investigation of the case was concluded as proved against the accused.
