Srinagar: Police on Wednesday arrested three gamblers at Habbak here and recovered stake money worth Rs 4180 from them.
A police officer told INS that SHO Police station Nigeen, under the supervision of SDPO Zakoora and SP Hazratbal, arrested three gamblers while they were found gambling in a public place at Habbak.
He said a case (FIR NO 93/2020) under Section 4 of the Public Gambling Act 1867, 188, and 269 IPC has been registered against the accused persons. “Stake money worth Rs 4180 and a set of playing cards were also recovered from the spot,” he said, adding, “Investigations have been set into motion.”
Meanwhile, the general public has lauded the efforts of the police in curbing such evil from society.
