Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Monday reserved verdict on a petition challenging the dismissal of plea against detention under Public Safety Act of Mian Abdul Qayoom, president of Kashmir’s lawyers’ body.
“Heard learned counsel for the parties. Orders reserved,” a division bench of Justices Ali Mohammad Magrey and Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul said after hearing senior counsel Zaffar A Shah for Mian Qayoom, President of Kashmir High Court Bar Association, and D C Raina, advocate general and senior AAG B A dar for the state.
“Dar, learned Senior Additional Advocate General, shall supply the relevant detention records as well as the translated copies of the concerned FIRs during the course of the day through the learned Registrar (Judicial) of this wing of the High Court,” the court added.
Last month, a division bench headed by Chief Justice Gita Mittal had directed Registrar Judicial Jammu to electronically transfer the application and replies filed by the government and Tihar jail, where Qayoom is lodged, to his counterpart in Srinagar for placing the same on the record appeal filed by Qayoom against the PSA detention.
In February this year, a single bench of the Court had dismissed Qayoom’s petition challenging the detention under the Public Safety Act (PSA).
