J&K records highest one-day jump in COVID-19 cases, 55 more test positive

Srinagar: 55 persons tested positive for novel coronavirus as Jammu and Kashmir witnessed the highest one-day jump in COVID-19 patients on Tuesday.
Professor Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent SKIMS said that 47 people tested positive at the tertiary care’s viral diagnostic lab in last 24 hours.
Among them, he said, 28 are from Kulgam, ten from Gonipora Handwara, seven from Jammu while one each case in from Shopain and Anantnag district.
Dr Saleem Khan, nodal officer said that at CD Hospital Srinagar’s Microbiology Lab , 826 samples were processed and seven among them –4 from Kokernag Anantnag, 2 from Reasi and one from Kathua—tested positive. One case was reported from Jammu, sources said. Ten Kupwara cases are from Gonipora Handwara and include a 3-year-old and 6-year-old boys, 3 men—aged 26, 30 and 58 besides five women—aged 18, 20, 24, 26 and 45-years-old. One case from Shopian include 41-year-old male from Pandshan while one of the Anantnag cases who tested positive at SKIMS is a 40-year-old female from Bijbhera Anantnag.
Sources said that 35 persons mostly from Kulgam and Jammu division districts were confirmed last night and youngest among them include 3-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl from Khan Mohalla and 7-year-old from K B Pora Avil besides a 92-year-old man from Chattabal. All of them have history of travel to New Delhi, Uttrakhand, Vijaypur, Banglore.
The case which were confirmed at CD lab include 19-year-old woman from Sadora Kokernag, 18-year-old and 40-year-old women besides 40-year-old man from Kokernag while two cases from Reasi include 20-year-old and 26-year-old male while one case ins from Kathua—18-year-old man.
With these cases, Srinagar has 136 cases (51 active) followed by Bandipora with 134 (26 active), Anantnag 127 (114 active), Baramulla 109 (49 active), Shopian 104 (44 active), Kupwara 83 (38 active), Budgam 46 (32 active), 69 Kulgam (63 active), Ganderbal 23 (9 active) and Pulwama 13 (9 active)
Similarly, Jammu has 35 positive cases and all but 9 of them have recovered followed by Udhampur 22 (2 Active), Kathua 13 (12 active), Samba 11 (7 active), Rajouri 4, Reasi 3 (3) while Kishtwar 1 (zero active), and Ramban (1 active). The government also informed that 28 more patients have recovered, taking the number of such people 455. 28 of those who recovered today include five from Srinagar, 12 from Baramulla and nine from Shopian.
Government said that till date 98083 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 24285 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 153 in Hospital Quarantine, 469 in hospital isolation and 10830nunder home surveillance. Besides, 62336 persons have completed their surveillance period.
