Srinagar: The encounter between militants and a joint team of police and army is in “progress” at Chanjimulla Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, army said on Saturday.
“As per a norm, the unit in contact is not disturbed to give out Breaking Inputs,” a spokesman of army said in a statement.
“Are we supposed to give minute by minute account of operations??” he said, adding, “I can report that whatever coming out of that place is purely based on speculation of people.”
As responsible professionals, he said, “our sincere request is not to report details such as fatalities, hostages ranks etc till some confirmation is given by official sources.”
“Atleast, please feel for the families of the soldiers of the unit. The unit is flooded with calls from families,” he said, adding, “Is breaking news so important? And let us not blame who did it first.”
