From food to masks, Anantnag NGOs reach out to people amid lockdown

Anantnag: At least three NGOs in this south Kashmir district are doing whatever they can to help the poor and needy affected by the lockdown to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
The NGOs— Syed Sadat Trust, Khirul Basher Foundation and Zeba Aapa Trust— distributed hundreds of masks and food packets among poor including non-local labourers in Anantnag. They also distributed sanitizers in GMC Anantnag. One of them, Syed Sadat Trust, has short-listed 310 families who need sustenance in terms of food and other essentials. The Trust has transferred some money to such families online, Zahoor Ahmad Tak, a member of Trust, said.
Besides, the Trust repaired a water filtration plant in GMC hospital and installed more tap points for hand wash in the hospital premises.
It claims to have distributed 500 face masks besides 200 sanitizers among doctors and patients. The Trust has also ordered PPEs especially for district hospital doctors who are at the front to fight the COVID-19. Also, the Trust arranged disposable shoe covers and caps in the hospital.
Meanwhile, another NGO Khirul Basher Foundation Anantnag also distributed food packets among homeless people at various places in Anantnag. The Volunteers of these NGOs including Zaba Aapa Trust reach out to people affected by the lockdown, especially poor including non-local labourers.
