Kupwara: Jammu and Kashmir ICDS Supervisers Union have called for a state wide strike against the government for not considering their promotion process,  withholding their salaries for months and amendment of social welfare rules. 
Sate union president, Abida War on Saturday addressed a presser in Kupwara along with other members of the union.
“We have been forced to come on roads due to callous approach of the government and have to call for indefinite strike starting from 29th July and have called  off the work from today onwards,” she said.
She said that last year their salary was withheld for several months and were not paid same even on eve of Eid.
“There are over 1600 supervisors across state whose families are suffering due to non payment of salaries. Our kids are not able to attend schools as we are not able to pay the school fees,” Abida said.
They demanded the implementation of court orders regarding the pension benefits to promoted quota through departmental promotions.
