KU expands pact with Montana Technological University, USA

Srinagar: The University of Kashmir has strengthened its pact with Montana Tech, University of Montana, USA, which is the partnering institution for the Indo-US project on invasive species and climate change with Dr. Manzoor A Shah, Associate Professor of Botany at KU as the Principal Investigator. A high level delegation led by KU VC Prof. Talat Ahmad including the Dean Research Prof. Zafar A Reshi, Dr. M A Shah, a representative from Administration Dr Tanveer Ahmad and a research scholar is on visit to Montana Techsince July 13 through 19.
A memorandum of understanding has been signed by the VC KU Prof. Talat and Chancellor of Montana Tech Prof Les Cook that entails expanding the cooperation in other areas of mutual interest, besides invasive species, such as Environmental Engineering, Economic Geology and Resource Mapping, and Ecological Restoration. The MoU that existed stands now strengthened by inclusion of joint supervision of research students, writing collaborative grant proposals, and furthering student exchange.
The delegation had a series of meetings with Chancellor Prof. Les Cook, Vice Chancellor of Research, Prof. Beverly Hartline, Dean of Science and Letters, Prof. Steve Gammon, Research Division Chief of Monatana Bureau of Mines and Geology, Prof. Madeline Gotkowitz and Dr Raja from the Department of Environmental Engineering.
Under the aegis of KU-Montana Tech collaboration seminar a series of talks were delivered by Prof. Talat Ahmad, Prof. Zafar A Reshi and Dr Manzoor A Shah. Joint field visits were undertaken to various field sites.
