Srinagar: Anganwadi workers on Tuesday threatened to boycott Amarnath yatra duties in case their pending salaries will not be released at an earliest.
Scores of Anganwadi workers assembled at Srinagar’s Press Enclave today and raised slogans in favour of their demands as well as against the government.
The protesting Anganwadi workers headed by the Union president Tasleema Subhan demanded immediate release of their pending wages.
Talking to media persons, Subhan said that Anganwadi scheme was implemented in 1970 but until now this scheme hasn’t applied on the ground, thus leaving thousands of Anganwadi workers to lurch at large.
She further added that the government has recently issued a circular for Yatra duty for Anganwadi workers but “we will not perform the duties until our wages are not released.”
The protesting Anganwadi workers later appealed Governor Jammu and Kashmir and other higher ups to stop their yatra duties and release their pending salaries at an earliest.
They also said that their salaries should be at par with Delhi state.
