Srinagar: Kashmir National TV Journalists Association (KNTJA) on Tuesday expressed concern over the arrest of senior journalist Ghulam Jeelani Qadri during a nocturnal raid by police at his residence in Nursing Gad Karanagar area of Srinagar
“There is hardly any clarity as to why he has been arrested. KNTJA demands that the action by the police must be clarified. The Governor’s administration must take a serious look into the matter,” KNTJA said in a statement.
Qadri has been arrested in a three decade old case registered on 15 Dec 1990 and warrant against him was issued under 512 CrPc (proclaimed offender) .
Qadri is Printer and Publisher of well known vernacular daily ‘Aafaaq’.
