Srinagar: General Secretary of Muslim League Mohammad Rafiq Ganie was arrested at Magam Tangmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, official sources said on Sunday.
They said Ganie, said to be a close associate of Masrat Alam Bhat, was arrested from his in-law house last night.
Meanwhile, Muslim League condemned Ganie’s arrest and termed it unjust and illegal. “Political space has been curtailed.” Muslim League criticized the state police action and said that political space is being denied by creating a situation of uncertainty and political turbulence in Jammu Kashmir. “By pushing people to wall India will achieve nothing, they should face the political leaders and workers on political turf,” a spokesperson said in a statement.
