Kupwara: Forest Protection force foiled a timber smuggling bid in Langate and arrested two persons while seizing the load carrier carrying the timber.
An official said that a special team was formed after specific inputs regarding the transportation of illicit timber.
“Naka was established near Forest Division Langate and in the following which, in the evening the special team nabbed two persons who along with a vehicle who were found transporting the illegal timber to Handwara outskirts,” officials said.
Chief conservator North Kashmir, Irfan Rasool, said that all those involved in any such illegal transportation of forest timber will be dealt with strictly under law.
The arrests were made on Friday evening.
