Srinagar: Samundar Bagh locality, connecting Old city residents with the commercial Hub Lal chowk is inundated since this morning while as the authorities concerned are acting as mute spectator with taking no action in this regard.

The Directorate of School Education Kashmir office is also located in the area, but the visitors were left to lurch today due to the inundation of the road.

However, the local residents of Samundar Bagh blamed poor drainage system for the inundation of the road, saying that authorities have failed to repair the system.

They said whenever it rains, the area gets submerged, causing difficulties to them, adding that they have approached the concerned authorities several times in the past but nothing has been done in this regard.

“The authorities always use machines to dewater the area but putting men and machinery in place is not any resolution instead proper drainage system should be in place to end the miseries of locals,” they said.

The people visiting the DSEK office also criticized the government for failing to dewater the area since the morning, adding that the submerging of the area is showing the apathy of authorities.
