Sopore: A gunfight between militants and government forces started in Wadoora Payeen village of Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday evening.
Official sources told INS that contingents of Army 22 RR, SOG Sopore, 177, 179 and 92 CRPF Batallion Baramulla and Police cordon off Wadoora Payeen village on wee hours of Tuesday.
As the forces intensified the searches, militants hiding in the area opened fire, leading to a gunfight.
The army has already rushed more reinforcement in the area, they said.
A police officer confirmed the encounter and said that the cordon was launched following specific inputs in the village.
Sources said two Lashkar-e-Toaiba militants are believed to be trapped in the area. Mobile internet service has been suspended in Sopore
