Sopore: A militant was killed in a gunfight with government forces started in Wadoora Payeen village of Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday evening.
Official sources told INS that contingents of Army 22 RR, SOG Sopore, 177, 179 and 92 CRPF Batallion Baramulla and Police cordon off Wadoora Payeen village on wee hours today.
As the forces intensified the searches, militants hiding in the area opened fire, leading to a gunfight in which one militant was killed so far. “The house in which the militants were taking refuge has been damaged during the course of the gunfight,” a source said, adding, “One militant has been killed and searches are underway.”
