Srinagar: Firing has resumed between forces and militants after a lull at gunfight site at Dragad Sugan area of south Kashmir’s Shopian.

According to officials searches were launched after they believed that they had killed the militants and launched the searches.

“There is fresh gunfire exchange at the site,” he said.

Another source in police claimed that they have killed two militants but were conducting area clearance operation to be sure there is no other militant present in the area.

The gunfight is raging in Dragad orchards while protests have erupted in the area as well.

Police has resorted to tear gas shelling to disperse the protesting youth who area fighting pitched battle with forces, trying to disrupt the anti militancy operation.

Protests during anti militancy operation have become a routine and police have been repeatedly asking people to stay away from encounter zones.
