Thousands of people stayed and prayed all night at jamia masjid, the central grand mosque of jammu and kashmir.

Srinagar: The last Friday of Ramadhan (Jumat-ul-Vida,) was observed as “Youm-ul-Quds and Kashmir” in the Valley while Friday congregations on the eve of were held across Kashmir valley and the biggest congregation in the valley was held at Dargah Hazratbal and at historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar where Mirwaiz Molvi Umar Farooq delivered Friday sermon.

People in thousands attended the Friday congregations.

Massive congregations were held at Dargah Hazratbal, Khanqa-e-Mola Srinagar, Makhdoom Sahab (RA) shrine, Khanqa-e-Faiz Panah Chrare-Shareef.

The call for observance of Youm-e-Quds and Youm-e-Kashmir was given by pro-freedom camp headed by Hurriyat Conference (G)  chairman Syed Ali Geelani and Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

Quds Day is a day Muslims from all around the world show their support for the oppressed muslims of Palestine. Rallies in support of palestine are held in every capital of the world.

Thousands of devotees today thronged Jamia Masjid here where Mirwaiz addressed them and highlighted the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and Islam.

Officials told The INS that all arrangements were put in place including sanitation, lightening, traffic management, transport and relevant things for the devotees.

“We had also established control room at Dargah Hazratbal where thousands of devotees are expected to gather for Friday congregational prayers and to have glimpse of the holy relic,” officials said.

The authorities had also pressed special buses in to service to ferry devotees to and from Hazratbal Dargah.

Meanwhile, traffic police Srinagar City had also issued a route plan for both private and public transport on this day to ensure the smooth passage of devotees.

Large congregations were also witnessed in others Masjids and shrines including Masjid Jamiat-e-Ahlehadith, Gawkadal; Asar-e-Sharif, Janab Sahib Soura Asar-e-Sharif Shehri Kalashpora Ziarat-e-Makhdoom Sahib, Khanqah-e-Mualla and different Imambaras.

The processions were also carried out in Abi Guzar and other places here on Youm-e-Quds during which the participants raised slogans in favour of Islam.
