Hailstorm damage crops, fruits in Tral villages

Baramulla: Parts of Rafiabad and Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district witnessed a spell of hailstorm and heavy rains on Sunday afternoon.
The hailstorm caused “extensive” damage to crops, apple orchards, Walnut trees and vegetable fields, locals said.
They said parts of upper reaches of Rafiabad witnessed heavy rains as well as hailstorm which continued for at least 10 to 15 minutes, causing loss to farmers and fruit growers in parts of Rafiabad and Sopore. The areas which were affected including Watergam, Dangiwicha, Zaingeer other areas. Meanwhile farmers urged district administration to depute teams to assess the damage caused by heavy rains and hailstorm.
