Baramulla: Hundreds of vehicles are stranded on the Srinagar Muzaffarabad highway for second consecutive day following protests at various places along the route over the rape of a minor in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district few days back.

Pertinently, police have already arrested the accused, who is a resident of Malikpora Trigam Sumbal.

According to reports the road has been blocked at Singpora, with a large shia population, and they are not letting any vehicular movement.

Police is yet to clear the important route for traffic to ply smoothly, while on Monday several vehicles were torched by unruly mob.

An Ambulance too was targeted by protesters.

On Tuesday Students of Valley Public Krankshivan Colony staged massive protest at Tarzoo Sopore, and students of Govt Girls School and Boys Higher Secondary school Boniyar Boniyar  in Baramulla held peaceful protest on Srinagar-Muzzafarabad Highway at Boniyar. They  demanded stern action against the accused.

Meanwhile all shops and business establishments are closed in Boniyar and its outskirts while as traffic movement was thin on roads as well.

A youth, Arsheed Ahmad sustained critical wounds amid clashes at Mirgund area on Srinagar-Baramulla.
