Highway ban: No restrictions for civilians in District Baramulla today

Baramulla: Government on Wednesday said that there will be no restrictions on the civilians movement on the Highway today in the north Kashmir’s district Baramulla.

According to District Magistrate Baramulla Dr. GN Itoo, there will be no restrictions today on 10th of April 2019 on National Highway in Baramulla District in view of Lok Sabha Elections 2019.

“Moreover, no Army convoy will ply on National Highway in District Baramulla,” Itoo said.

Government had recently passed orders that civilians movement on Highway, from Udhampur to Baramulla, will be barred for two days a week i.e Sunday and Wednesday.

The order has drawn flak from across the sections of the society and from political parties, mainstream and Hurriyat as well.

On Tuesday divisional commissioner Kashmir ordered that advocates, lawyers and medical emergencies are exempted from the highway ban order.

The order to bar civilian movement on Highway, government had said, was to let forces convoy move over the critical road only.
