Srinagar: Authorities have imposed restrictions amid a shutdown on Sunday in parts of Ganderbal district, a day after one of the natives— M.Tech student-turned-militant—was killed in Shopian district of south Kashmir.
All the business establishments are closed while the traffic is off the roads in the central Kashmir district where internet services have been also snapped by the authorities.
Reports said heavy deployment of the government forces has been made at all the sensitive points of the district to thwart any protests. The people are not being freely allowed to move, the reports said further.
The M.tech student Rahil Rashid Sheikh, a resident of Nunar Ganderbal, was among two militants killed in a brief gunfight with government forces at Imam sahib area of Shopian. Rahil had joined Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant outfit on April 3, reports added.
