Pulwama: The residents of Nikas  village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district have alleged that the Public Health Engineering (PHE) is supplying contaminated water to their village consisting of more than 200 households.
The villagers said that since 2008 the water scheme was made available to the village which functioned only for a year.
“Since then contaminated water has been supplied to the village putting lives at risk,” they alleged.
The residents also said that the PHE department is  constructing  new water filter tanks from past 4 years which will provide water supply to nearly half a dozen villages of this area, but the department is working on very slow pace.
Junior Engineer PHE Pulwama promised that “within days their issues will be resolved and the new filter tanks will be started within two weeks.”
