Awantipora: Residents of Hari-Parigam in Awantipora town of Pulwama have expressed resentment as they continue to suffer due to delay in work at “Watal Ara” bridge from last four years.
The residents told INS that tender for constructing the bridge was alloted “four years back” and the work was also started by the roads and buildings (R&B) department but still awaits completion.
They said that, as the work on first phase completed, concerned authorities failed to initiate further process, thereby leaving residents in the state of despair.
Owing to lack of alternative communication facility, residents of the area are unable to travel to nearby areas.
A temporary bridge near the under-construction one is the sole mode of communication for the residents.
Assistant Executive Engineer, R&B, Zahoor Ahmad Shah did  not answer queries from INS.
