Srinagar: The family from Rawalpora in the outskirts of Srinagar on Saturday alleged that the negligence of the doctors at a private hospital here has claimed the life of their beloved daughter on March 27. The family has also filed a complaint at Police Station Nowgam, seeking action against the hospital authorities.

The family told INS that a 36-year-old lady namely Saima Majeed was admitted at Ahmad hospital here as she was having some uterus issues.

However, cousin brother of Saima, Mansoor Shayir said that the doctors are claiming that the patient was suffering from cancer following which the family sought details and file of the patient regarding the claims of doctors, which Shayir said they failed to provide to so.

“It is a clear murder as the hospital is minting money from the people and don’t care about the lives of ailing patients,” he said, adding that hospital administration has failed to provide any kind of document that can reveal that the deceased patient was suffering from cancer or any cardiac disease as claimed by the doctors.

He further informed the patient was admitted in hospital on March 26 but due to the negligence of hospital authorities she died on March 27. “After her death, we filed a complaint at Police Station Nowgam and police has initiated an investigation into the matter,” Shayir told INS.

He further said that they also staged a protest in the premises of Ahmad hospital today and sought stern action against the doctors involved in the ‘killing’ of their beloved.

However, the hospital authorities refuted the allegations made by the family, saying that the patient lost her after she suffered a cardiac arrest.

Touseef Ahmad, an official of the hospital said that the patient was operated in the hospital following which she was recovering. “In the meantime, the patient fell unconscious following she was referred to SMHS hospital,” he said.

He added that there was no negligence but the patient has died due to cardiac arrest.
