Complete shutdown is being observed across Kashmir Valley against the imposition of ban on socio political organisation Jamat e Islami J&K , arrest spree and the recent amendments in Article 35 A.

The call for shutdown was given by valley based trade fraternity and was supported by Awami Action Committee as well.

“From the ban on JeI to continued and collective attempts being made by the Raj Bhavan and New delhi to erode the special status of Jammu and Kashmir by tinkering with Article 370 & 35A, every sinister effort is being made to further the unrest in Kashmir, ” Chairman of the Kashmir Economic Alliance, Mohammad Yasin Khan said in a pressser yesterday.

All the business establishments are closed and traffic is off the roads.

Reports of shutdown has been received from all the district headquarters of the Valley.

The shutdown was supported by Federation chamber of industries Kashmir, Kashmir traders and manufacturers federation and Jammu and Kashmir socio economic coordination committee, an amalgam of various trade, industry, travel, tour, tourism, horticulture, education, contractors, pharmaceutical, transport, houseboy, bakers and civil society formations.
