Government approves increase of MDS seats for Dental College & Hospitals

Srinagar: Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India on the recommendations of Dental Council of India issued Letter of Permission regarding the increase of MDS Seats in the discipline of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Periodontics, Prosthodontics, Oral Medicine & Radiology and Orthodontics from two to three seats from the academic session 2019-20 making the total Intake of Post Graduation to 18.
According to officials the matter was persuaded by the College authorities with the State of Jammu and Kashmir, University of Kashmir, Dental Council of India and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India before the formal permission was granted.

“The Dental Council of India visited Govt. Dental College & Hospital, Srinagar in this regard and inspected each and every Department for the Infrastructure facilities available, Faculty, Staff and Clinical Material required for the said increase. It has been after a lot of persuasion, dedication shown by the collective efforts of administration/HOD’s, Faculty members and Staff that the inspection by the Dental Council of India was carried out smoothly without any hindrance. This increase has got lot of happiness to the students aspiring for Post Graduation, as this being the only institution in the State to have Post Graduation facility,” officials said.
