Police thwarts JRL rally in Abi Guzar Srinagar, Yasin Malik, others detained

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairperson Muhammad Yasin Malik on Wednesday led a protest rally from Abi Guzar in Srinagar and chanted slogans for the release of political prisoners.

Malik said that the political prisoners are lodged in various jails even after completing their sentences and cited Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo who has completed 26 years in jail, Shabir Shah, Naeem Khan, Aasiya Andrabi, Fahmeeda Sofi and Naheeda Nasreen, Masarat Alam as example.

He urged the united nation human rights commission and other human rights organisations to focus their attention on to the issue and ask for the release of all political prisoners.

As the protesters tried to march towards Lal Chowk, police detained Yasin Malik and other activists and shifted them to Kothi Bagh police station.
