Srinagar: Following government’s decision to auction sand and Shoul extraction, former MLA Ganderbal and National Conference leader Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar has written a letter to State’s Chief Secretary, seeking installation of CCTV cameras for transparency check on Nallahs, and river banks in the central Kashmir district.
“As your good self is aware that the auction process of (extraction) of Sand, Shoul, Bajari etc on Nallah Sindah at District Ganderbal have been auctioned by the Government, this step of Government will create unemployment to thousands of families who are dependent on the (extraction) job (sic),” reads a letter addressed by the former MLA to the Chief Secretary of the state.
“Keeping in view the public resentment at Ganderbal, I will remain highly obliged if this auction process will be stopped and the District Administration direct to install CCTV cameras for transparency check on Nallahs, river banks, so that these families who are dependent on this job may not suffer.”
